FountainPen has just what you need to write, with none of the clutter. A menubar, a compositions panel, a toolbar with four buttons… all can be hidden. It’s just you and your writing.
See how easy it is to start writing, in the video:
It only takes a tiny bit of clutter to distract you. FountainPen offers several simple tools to combat this, like the Backdrop which covers up Desktop Cruft.
The video shows some of them in action.

There’s no reason for you not to try FountainPen, since it’s free. Always has been, always will be. So go ahead and put that big download button to use. It’s also open source, if you’re into that sort of thing.
FountainPen 0.7 was made for Snow Leopard, but Leopard will get the job done.
Only you can know that for sure. A good application for writing is critical, so it would be wise to at least try out FountainPen. In the quest for the perfect app, you may also want to check out OmmWriter or WriteRoom. Or, if you need something more full-featured and fangly, this Macworld piece links to a good bunch of them.
Just remember, FountainPen is free. As in eloquent beer.
